The room we stayed in had recently been renovated and had a balcony and nice cupboards.

The historic nature of the hotel and the respect of the historic nature of the hotel. I felt like I was going back into history
The breakfast room was an afterthought and while the continental breakfast selections were good, the setting was cold and unwelcoming. The hotel could do a better job of making the breakfast a feature, not an unwelcome requirement.

This historic hotel is very interesting if you appreciate history and old buildings as I do. Our room was nicely appointed for the period. Located in a great area for shopping- loved Yuba Blue store and antique stores in that area. Warning for those that go to bed early. The hotel bar can be noisey and party goers heard in the room. Music did stop at 11pm and the crowd noise by 2am. Staff (especially Chris at the front desk) was very friendly/helpful. Continental breakfast had a lot of choices and was really a full breakfast for us. Overall, we enjoyed our stay there!
As mentioned above, the hotel bar had live music until 11pm and partiers making noise until 2am. This might be a problem if you go to bed early or are easily disturbed by noise.

The ambiance was great with an antique look and feel. Its central location gave immediate access to all of the wonderful downtown shops and diner choices. We ended up eating at the Holbrooke Restaurant which was great. They let us in early for diner while they were between lunch and dinner for some tea. We enjoyed conversation and the cool room while it was hot outside.
While it’s nice to have the antique look and feel to a place, some of the furniture was in poor shape. I think I was looking for more comfort than look in certain cases like the chairs in the room. I was trying to relax and the only option at some points was the bed. The bed was just fine for my wife and I though so not too much of an issue. :)

This place is stylish and fantastic, located conveniently near restaurants, the heart of downtown, and an alley at 6 am - make sure to check out Fable Coffee for your morning tea or coffee fix.

I actually paid for my in-laws to go there for a couple of nights, and they totally loved the place. They said the staff was very friendly and helpful, and they loved the furnishings and the general ambience.
The only thing they complained about was the early morning garbage pick- up outside their room,

We got a fairly quiet room with a bedroom and a balcony. the location was marvelous; Grass Valley Museum was approximately 10-15 minutes' walk from the hotel. - the property itself was in a great area.

This hotel had one of the nicest, most accomodating group of employees I've ever come across. The on-site restaurant was excellent, with a large wine list, very reasonable prices, and great service. The hotel is situated right in the middle of town, and we never had to use our car!
The rooms along the front of the hotel get a lot of traffic noise, so ask for one that faces the back!
